Presentation by virtual to celebrate International Day of Sign Languages 2020 in Indonesia

According to the Concept Note from the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) regarding to International Day of Sign Language, which is a day when Deaf community celebrates the successful recognition and inauguration of International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) on September 23rd every year and inaugurated by the United Nations (UN) in December 2017.

Indonesia has begun to aware of natural sign languages, namely Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia (Bisindo – Indonesian Sign Language). Awareness of Bisindo has many positive impacts, such as the provision of Indonesian Sign Languages classes at several universities, NGOs and schools, and Indonesian Sign Languages Interpreting provide on 30-90 minutes news on the television broadcast stations. Therefore, Sign Language Center in Indonesia under one of our Ordinary Members, Indonesian Association for the Welfare of the Deaf (IAWD) has arranged the IDSL 2020 by inviting the WFD RSA to be one of speakers on their webinar series, which is held on the 12th September 2020.
