ISIT 2019 and CRPD & SDGs – In lieu of Conclusion

WFD RSA had held an International Sign Interpreters Training in Asia 2019 (ISIT 2019) on December 21 and 22 2019 in Kobe City, Japan. We invited Nigel Howard (Canada) and Megumi Kawakami (Japan), two senior international sign deaf interpreters and trainers, to conduct international sign training for deaf and hearing interpreters, so as to contact and promote sign language interpreters professional sharing and communication opportunities in Asia. There were 20 participants from 10 countries and territories in Asia. Nigel and Megumi used vivid and interesting way to let the participants break down the diaphragm in quickly to share their local situations and actively while training. Trainers also shared their experience and notes in sign interpreting internationally.

On December 23 and 24 2019, CRPD & SDGs (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Sustainable Development Goals) Training was held with 20 deaf participants from 8 countries. The trainer was Daniel Ocampo (Colombia). He presented the CRPD and the SDGS to the deaf in Asia region, so that they can understand the relationship between the deaf and the CRPD and the SDGS, and to promote opportunities for mutual communication. He set a role-play workshop for participants to learn how to communicate with different organizations and shared his experience and considerations in his local country. All the participants were actively asking and sharing their local situations.
